Gorgeous Gam

We start either from Waisai or your close by Homestay - and make our way to the Guesthouse. In the morning will take it easy. Depending on what you'd like to do, we can go out to snorkel, have a look around the village or simply relax. Our hosts will prepare delicious lunch, before we head out again in the afternoon. We can explore more amazing reefs between the islands before heading to an empty beach for a fresh coconut. In the evening, a delicious meal awaits us at the Homestay.

Today we explore the large bay in Gam's center. There are countless islets, passages and inlets and after cruising around a bit, we can go for a snorkel. You'll find the underwater world here is quite different from the exposed reefs in Dampier Strait, but the colourful coral and the sheer amount of macro makes up for the lack of fish. Later, we are going to visit viewpoints, where we have lunch overlooking the fantastic coastline. In the afternoon we keep on exploring the bay, reefs, caves and another viewpoint before returning to the homestay in the evening.

We get up before sunrise to head up into the jungle-covered hills. Here, you get the chance to watch the endemic Red Bird of Paradise display its magnificent dance in the light of the rising sun. Back at the homestay, we have breakfast and then head out to Mansuar. We spend our day exploring Mansuar and Kri island: snorkel some of Raja Ampat's most impressive reefs, stop at villages or beaches, have a swim in the crystal clear water surrounding a sandbank and simply enjoy paradise.

After breakfast we visit the reefs between Gam and Arborek. Snorkelling some of the exposed reefs is a great experience - especially in current. From October to April there is a good chance to come across large numbers of mantas. From here, we head to Gam's south-west coast, where we stop for lunch. In the afternoon we can follow a small stream up the hills into the rainforest. Depending on the season, we can get wild Mangos or other tropical fruit, before returning to our homestay in the evening.

First, we head to Gam's west-cape for a mind-boggling snorkel on one of our favourite reefs. A short drive further, we reach Pef island and have a look around. From here, we continue to one of Raja Ampat's highlights: Hidden Bay. Accessible only through a small channel, the extensive bay awaits with vivid colours and spectacular landscapes. Next, we pass Kabui Passage - a narrow waterway dividing Gam and Waigeo - where a viewpoint offers a breathtaking look at the area. From here, we slowly make our way home through the magical Kabui Bay and stop at Mioskon to watch the migrating fruit bat colony at sunset.

After breakfast, we are pretty much free to do whatever you want. There are still plenty of amazing reefs in the area, all good for a snorkel. We can stop on some other islands and relax on the beach or head to Waigeo and visit an impressive cave there. In the late afternoon, we are going to drop you off at your destination somewhere around Kri/Mansuar/Waisai.
